I have great friends
Yesterday was not a great day. Apart from being frantically busy at work, and being the only admin staff member around, with everything seemingly falling apart at the same time, it was my Dad's birthday. The first since he passed away. And whilst I thought I was going to be ok with it, that it was just another day, I wasn't and it really wasn't.
My good friends Nic and Sharon arrived at my house after work, each brandishing a bottle of wine. These girls rock! They have held my hand, mopped up my tears and generally been the best friends I could ever have wished for over the last 12 months. I doubt whether I would have made it through this time without them.
So we had a toast to Dad and wished him a Happy Birthday, told some funny stories and laughed a little. The best medicine. Unfortunately it would appear that I'm the one that drank most of the wine and I admit I'm feeling the teensiest little bit hungover today! I do wish 5pm would hurry up so that I can go home and crash on the couch!
That'll learn me .......

Well, it looks like you're off to a good start, and you write well. You should fit right in. My friend Dana sent me to take a look, and I'll stick you on my blog roll if you like. I live in Orlando,FL and am a retired college teacher and some other things. Never mind. Dana implied that you were a protege of that wicked fellow Rob Smith (GutRumbles). You realize of course that he was a bad influence... right? Don't mention his name to yoour mother... if you are having trouble with her now there's no reason for losing her entirely. You probably still have specific instructions for that toe nail polishing fetish of his... orders from the hereafter, I suppose.
My daughter and I sailed past you a few years ago when we were doing a circumnavigation. Hawks Bay seemed a little shallow to me (I live more or less on an old 50 foot Alden that draws 6 ft... 2 meters in Kiwi measure) but we did go in to Napier and roamed around for a while, then went on to Bucklands Beach Aukland and parked the boat for a few weeks so we could drive around in the wine country. Beautiful country.
Anyhow, if Dana is gonna mother hen you I'm sure that you couldn't be in better hands. Probably safter than you'd be with that curmudgeon Rob Smith (need I say that we all miss him terribly here?).
Welcome to bloggery. Have fun.

It was all for a good cause - remembering your dad - so have an aspirin and some water and relax tonight. Feel better soon.
