If I had the power to make one wish for you, I would find it very hard to decide what gift to give - what gift would help you to happiness? Beauty is dangerous, wisdom must be earned, love is of your own choosing. But in the end, I am cetain I would choose the best gift of all - and that is courage.

I'm Not Very Popular!

Poor Miss Milly has had a less than great weekend.

As much as I might think Mr Wonderful is the best thing since sliced bread, Miss Milly is less than enamoured with him. When she saw him disembark from the back of the car yesterday, she took off into the house at a rate of knots that can only be described as impressive. She's met him before and knows what he's capable of!

Poor girl is not that enamoured of Mr Lawn-Mower either, and he made his bi-weekly venture from the garden shed to do what only Mr Lawn-Mower's can do - mow lawns, obviously. Back into the house she came.

After I had done my bit with said Mr Lawn-Mower, which I must say is not nearly as satisfying an experience as the one with Mr Wonderful, I did wonder where Miss M had hidden herself within her domain. As her blankies were flapping quietly on the line, I did think she probably wouldn't be in her usual position curled up on my *our* bed. After a quick check around the house, I must say I was a little surprised, to find her here:

Funny sort of a place for a cat to find comfort ... but who am I criticize ...

However, do we think she was less than impressed to find me snapping her pic?

Oh, hell, yes we do. I'm such a bad Mother. Who only knows what I might have been able to do to children ...

Mr Wonderful

Mr Wonderful came for a short visit today. Well, actually I had to go and pick him up and drop him off, and he only stayed for an hour – but what a wonderful hour it was. He got into spots that haven’t been got into for absolutely ages and performed wonderfully!

Wanna meet Mr Wonderful? Here he is then:

I’m in love *sigh*

Mr Wonderful sucks like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.

Note the empty tummy when he arrived, and the full tummy just before he left.

I’m thinking I should change the name of this blog to dirtygirl101, but I don’t think it would be taken in context ……

Tribute to 9/11

Not much happening around here in Kiwigirl land.

I'm in the midst of cleaning my filthy house from top to bottom, but in my frequent sanity breaks I found this over here.

What a great idea. Go sign up. I am.

You Learn Something New Everyday

The things I have learnt today, thus far:

1 I cannot run the dryer, the stereo, the computer, the dehumidifier and try and boil the jug and the same time. Say “overload” – twice!

2 If someone wants your opinion on a dead cow mat they’ve just bought, just nod and make appreciative mooing noises. Invariably, if you tell them what you think, they won’t like what you tell them.

3 It is unnecessary to have two showers in one morning – 45 minutes apart. I am plot lost, but very clean!

4 My washing is hanging on the line – all pegged out with pink pegs! I have issues.

5 It’s a good idea to balance your cheque account more than once every three months.

7 When your hairdresser advises you what colour to colour your hair – accept what she says. She knows better than you do. And sometimes, just sometimes, she will do it for free!! What a sweetie.

8 When the cat is meowing at the door to go out, even though her cat door is two feet away and open, please open the door for her to get out. If you don’t she will vomit on the carpet and you will have to clean it up.

And it's only 4pm. Whatever will the rest of today learn me?

It's a beautiful day outside. I think I'll go pour myself a wee G&T and go and enjoy what's left of the day.

A Week Of It

And what a week it’s been!

Tuesday brought the news that my friend Sharon’s 19 year old son and his 17 year old girlfriend are going to make her a Grandmother in March. Joy oh joy! As you can imagine, she’s thrilled with the news. Not! There’s so much more that these kids could be doing with their lives other than making babies.

On Wednesday Nic’s stepfather had surgery for prostrate cancer. Everything went well and the surgeon believes that he’s got it all. Time will tell I guess.

To top that little lot off, Thursday brings the news that one of the young guys I work with has a brain tumor. Had been complaining of having a continuous headache for the past couple of weeks, went to his Doc who said they were “tension” headaches and to go and have his eyes checked. Did that, nothing wrong there. Back to the Doc, who suggests that maybe seeing a specialist might be in order. Of to the specialist he goes on Tuesday. Thursday he’s told to get his ass down to Wellington – brain tumor – they’ll be operating on Monday. They’re 90% sure the tumor is cancerous, but as I know from my Dad’s illness, it doesn’t matter with a tumor in the brain whether it’s cancerous or not! He’s only 32 FFS! That sucks!

And I’ve got a hair growing out of my chin!

The good news of the week is that we’ve now got linky things over there <<<<<. My indebtedness and thanks go to the lovely Suthrun Soul. who came to my rescue. Thank you, thank you. Oh, and it was me having a “play” that has lead to the bullet point with nothing beside it. Nothing to do with my rescuer!

I'm off to get my hair coloured. In the words of my hairdresser on Thursday, my colour looks like crap ..... and we can't have that, now can we!

It's War!

I’m declaring war on one of the disgusting men in my office. Problem is, I’m not sure which one I’m declaring war on! Ene-meaney-miny-mo …

One of the filthy little pricks, uses the toilet and doesn’t flush! Ok, it’s only pee, not No 2’s, but still!! It’s bad enough I have to share ablution facilities with the buggers, surely they can see their way clear to bloody flush? It’s not that damned hard. They put two buttons there for them to choose from. Or maybe that’s the problem – too much bloody choice.

I’ve put up with this for the last 16 bloody months, and I’m sick of it. I’ve given up on the whole seat up/seat down argument. I concede that I’m unlikely to win that one, but FFS this is a health hazard.

I’m thinking that I might just go drop a tampon in there and wait to see who yells first!

It’s war, I’m telling ya!!

Thank You

I've been meaning to post a thank you to everyone who has stopped by recently and left me messages of encouragement on this new blog of mine.
So, "Thank You", it has really been appreciated.
This is a really new forum to me, and what to blog and what not to blog, I really struggle with. I wonder if what I have to say is really blog worthy. It might be my day-to-day life, but is it really blog worthy? I have a lot of thoughts swilling around in this brain of mine, and I try to put them into some sort of semblence, to collate them into something that I can blog. Mostly they come when I'm standing in the shower in the morning, my most peaceful time of the day. I think it's where I do my best thinking - hence I'm in there for ages! You should see my power bill! But then I kinda lose the thoughts going through the day and little by little they don't seem quite so important, so I don't .... blog them, that is.
I know, if I stick at it, I'll get better at it. That's the way most things go, isn't it?
Anyway .... the things I'm finding most frustrating at the moment are: 1) Apparently I can post pics here, but I don't see to be able to post a pic of me, so that you can see who you're reading. And 2) What the hell do I do about putting links on here to those of you who I read? LisaW suggested bloglines.com, but I'm a bit dense about how to add that to the side over there <<<
Help or suggestions wanted!!
Ta muchly!

Thats The Way, ah ha ah ha, We Like It, ah ha ah ha

I toodled off to the rugby this afternoon, and wanted to share with you all one of the most beautiful spots that you could hope to have a rugby paddock in. How about that view. I really should have been standing to take this pic ..... but, yeah that's the Pacific Ocean out there.

Can you see that score board. Yep it says 51 HB, 29 Steelers. Final score! Yes!!!!!
Yipppeee!!
Our boys, finally got some points on the board (after *ahem* two dismal games), and did the home ground proud this afternoon.

Long may it continue.

Good going guys. Looking forward to seeing some more wins this season.

Oh, Good Grief

As I mentioned in my 100 things, I have my profile on a singles dating site. I have still not decided whether this is a good or a bad thing. However, it’s certainly providing me with some “interesting” contact with people. Below is a message I received recently:

Hi xxx,
you have stolen my heart with those lovely, big, beautiful eyes of your's so i may as well send it to you!!!!!!
A fish girl?No height, no weight, no thoughts on love or intimacy,a bit of a mystery girl???

With best wishes and kindest regards
Cheers red rabbit

Barely do I get a chance to peruse this guys’ profile, and wonder about his expression of un-dying love, and ponder the hidden secrets awaiting me, when I get this ………

Hi xxx,
do the girls in the Hawkes Bay area not speak to the opposite sex or have manners!!!!!
A reply to indicate your intentions one way or the other is always appreciated!!!!
Anyway i don't hold it again'st you in any way and would like to wish you all the best in your search and your time on the FSO site.
I hope the weather is as glorious your way as it is in the Waikato today.
This ship will sail right on by; red sails in the sunset.
Red rabbit fades away-------

And ya wonder why I haven’t been to coffee with anyone? Sheesh!

I Passed!

Awaiting me in my letterbox last night were the results of the Commercial Law paper I studied last semester. I got a “B”. Yippee!! I am soooo happy with that. Believe me, I’d have been happy with a “C” pass on this baby. No offence to any lawyers out there, but I just do not understand how Contract Law, Tort Law, the Fair Trading Act, the Consumer Guarantees Act etc etc can rock your boat on a daily basis. Criminal Law, now that would be different …… On the other hand, I guess spending all day balancing figures wouldn’t rock your boat either? Each to his own …..

I spent the majority of last night trying to explain the basic points of debits and credits to a friend. Nancy is 52 and has recently gone back to “school” to up-skill herself and make herself more “marketable” to prospective employers. Good on her. I really admire her for doing that. But this accounting paper she’s doing has really got her baffled. I tried to explain things as simply as I could to Nance, but when you do things automatically and accept that things go where they go just “because” it’s difficult to try and get the logic across. So it looks like some time at the weekend will be spent going through some examples from her course, and hopefully making everything a bit clearer for her. I hope I don’t confuse her too much.

On that note, I’d better get back to balancing stuff ……

Short Days, Long Nights

It's certainly been busy around here in Kiwigirl land the last week. The preparations and celebrations for Sharon's 40th have taken up most of the week.

We had a trial run on Tuesday night, (a lovely meal cooked by Sharon's partner and a few bottles of wine) a bit of a break on Wednesday, and I had Sharon's daughter to stay with me on Thursday night when Sharon and Shane went to a beautiful restaurant here in Hawke's Bay for dinner. Then Friday night and Saturday morning were spent getting food ready and things organised for the big partay on Saturday evening.

It was a blast. Sharon had such a wonderful time catching up with friends and family and that was really great to see. She comes from a family of six girls and all but one was able to be with her for the big night.

However, I think I'm getting too old for this stuff. I was absolutely shattered on Sunday (no hangover involved) after going back around and spending an hour in the rain picking up broken glass and digging bottle tops (with my finger nails) out of the back lawn. The things we do! Six or so bags of bottles and rubbish to the dump, a few dishes and I was ready to call it a day.

I spent the rest on Sunday watching "bad" TV from the couch. Of course as soon as I went to bed, I was wide awake again. The alarm clock was not my best friend this morning!!

Happy Birthday

Today is a very special day. My friend, Sharon, turns 40 today.

Happy Birthday babe. I am so lucky to have you as my friend and in my life.

Have a great day and an even better night *wink wink*

Luv ya.
